Colegio Venezolano Británico was founded in 1963 on the initiative of Harold and Maureen Dutton of British origin, who with the purpose of preparing their children to be admitted to higher education in the United Kingdom, began to give them English classes in a room in their house, then several friends asked them to include their children in this experience, this is how its population increased, which is why they decided to register Colegio Venezolano Británico in the Ministry of Education in 1969, under the No. P-469.
In 1972, as a result of its continuous growth in enrollment, the school moved to the house it currently occupies in Quinta Ipeguaida in La Castellana. Several years later, they inaugurated a second location, in another house on Los Chaguaramos Street in La Castellana, where classes were given for both elementary and high school, reaching 400 students. Years later the school was forced to close the second building because the owners needed the house. The school continues in Quinta Ipeguaida with only elementary and preschool education.
In 2002, the Dutton family, already at an advanced age, retired and sold the school to the Wettern family, who remodeled the physical space, created new classrooms with air conditioners, bathrooms, offices, installed two parks, etc., increasing the capacity to receive a larger number of students. In 2015, the Wettern family decided to retire with the satisfaction that their three children studied in their institution.
So they contacted their friend, with the conviction that she would give continuity to such a beautiful mission. The architect Aura Marina Rojas Jimenez, with great experience in the creation and management of educational institutions together with her daughter Andreína Gonzalez, Bachelor of Social Communication who has closely followed in the footsteps of her mother, also continuing the family trajectory of her maternal grandmother (founding teacher of schools), they then take on the challenge of carrying out this laudable work, aware of the reality and circumstances through which our country is going through. They keep the school enrollment, the team of teachers and payroll, as well as the physical facilities, adapting and reorganizing them with a new identity and substantial improvements. This shows the great love for what they do with mysticism and work ethic.
La práctica pedagógica en el Colegio Venezolano Británico se orienta hacia el logro de una acción educativa integral bilingüe (español-inglés), que permita a nuestros educandos proseguir estudios en Educación Media con bases sólidas que contribuyan en su camino al éxito académico. Promueve una preparación personal y pedagógica de excelencia que contribuye a la formación bilingüe, intelectual, emocional, sociocultural, de sus estudiantes, en un marco de profundo respeto por la vida, por la diversidad de niños y niñas, de cultos, de religiones, razas, de valores y principios éticos – morales. Nuestra filosofía, reconoce al docente como una figura importante dentro del proceso educativo, quien trabaja en estrecha relación con padres, madres y todos los integrantes de la institución. El trabajo, la constancia, orden y disciplina son factores del éxito.
Consolidar la integración de una Comunidad Educativa conformada por personas comprometidas, innovadoras, emprendedoras e identificadas con un objetivo común, desarrollar una acción educativa integral bilingüe, donde los aprendizajes constituyan experiencias significativas vinculadas a la realidad y a la tecnología, facilitando conocimientos, habilidades y destrezas en situaciones de la vida cotidiana, de manera que los logros obtenidos por los estudiantes no sean el resultado de simple transferencia de conocimientos, sino más bien de lo que ellos pueden hacer por sí mismos.
To consolidate the integration of an Educational Community made up of committed, innovative, enterprising people identified with a common objective, to develop an integral bilingual educational action, where learning constitutes significant experiences linked to reality and technology, facilitating knowledge, abilities and skills in everyday life situations, so that the achievements obtained by the students are not the result of a simple transfer of knowledge, but rather of what they can do by themselves.
La Unidad Educativa Privada Colegio Venezolano Británico, es una institución de carácter privado ubicada en la Quinta Ipeguaida, Avenida Mohedano entre Tercera y Cuarta Transversal, Urbanización La Castellana, Municipio Chacao, Caracas.
Está inscrito en al Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Educación, bajo el Código N° 17471507 de la Zona Educativa del Estado Miranda, pertenece al Circuito Escolar N° 3.
Atiende a niños de 3 años a 12 años, correspondientes a los niveles de Preescolar y Educación Primaria, en un horario comprendido entre las 7:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m. en preescolar, y de 7:00 a. m. a 3:00 p.m. en primaria.
